We continue our Meet the Leader series and invite LNV alumni only to join us for lunch with Dr. Rosanna Mucetti, who began her tenure as the Superintendent of the Napa Valley Unified School District (NVUSD) in July 2018.
Dr. Mucetti served as the Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services in the San Leandro Unified School District for five years, where she led large scale instructional improvements, integrated socio-emotional learning into the curriculum, implemented an overhaul of the district’s technology landscape and supported implementation of the district’s facilities bond program.
Previously, she served as a Spanish bilingual elementary classroom teacher, instructional coach, principal, district administrator and director at an educational nonprofit. Dr. Mucetti has worked primarily with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations throughout her entire career. She is passionate about working with English Learners, and completed a dissertation, From Compliance to Instruction: Reforming English Learner Support Services. Dr. Mucetti gained tremendous experience in strategizing and leading innovative reform efforts as she worked to address issues related to overall school district performance in the Hayward and San Jose Unified School Districts, as well.
It is worth noting that she also spent two years working at the Buck Institute for Education as the Director of District and State Initiatives with school districts seeking to redesign schools to support innovation, technology integration and project-based learning. She has worked with some of the most innovative school districts across the country as they embraced the shift to new standards, new assessment practices and 21s t century teaching and learning approaches. She is thrilled to bring her national experience and learning to NVUSD.
Dr. Mucetti has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from CSU East Bay. She attained her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on social justice from CSUEB. In 2018, Dr. Mucetti attained her certification in school business and finance management from the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education. Dr. Mucetti lives with her husband, Orlando, and two children, Sofia, 17, and Maceo, 12.
