Sport has a powerful way of uniting people. It builds community through a shared experience, a common goal, and creates a sense of belonging, whether watching or playing. It also exhibits the power of teamwork. Most of the time, a team's success is dependent upon how well a group can work together as one, united under the leadership of owners, coaching staff and standout players on a team, defined by both attitude and level of play.
Leadership Napa Valley has the opportunity to personally acquaint our organization with Napa Valley 1839 Football Club, our very own local semi-professional football club. During our time together, we will highlight:
- The community need that the team founders were seeking to fill, and efforts to continue to grow the game.
- How to begin and maintain a professional sports operation in a community like Napa.
- The different facets and considerations needed to operate an athletic club on a day-to-day basis.
- Coaching a team, the skill set and training needed, the dedication it takes, and taking into account there are many different styles of coaching, what defines successful leadership in that position.
